Once It Never Happened
The door was closed, the lights were off and the house was empty save for one small boy struggling to stay awake on the couch: me. It was one in the morning and still my parents weren't home; yet I stayed awake, knowing full well I wouldn't be able to stay up. I kept wishing though, I kept wishing that one day they'd come home early, before sleep welcomed me, actually (for just once in my life) greet me like normal parents.
It never happened.
A sall 'Hello' would have been nice.
Now, it never will.
