I was on the bus on the way home from school when a friend started to tell the group about how her cooking teacher had made fun of her. He had come up to her and told her that they were making a new doll in Ethiopia(her native country): you wind her up and she starves! For some reason everyone thought this was hilarious. Personally, I fail to see the humour in starving children. I couldn't believe that a teacher would say something so insensitive or that students would find it funny. We proffess this incredible generosity and compasion for children in third world countries when really it's just a front. Do people really have nothing better going on in their lives than making fun of impovrished children? It makes me angry, I don't understand how something so horrible could be funny.
