Last Month: But they did a study. It must be true!
So, my mother tells me her "therapist," who is actually just some random emergency room doctor, said that 90% of homosexuals have controlling mothers. She then asks me, "Am I controlling?" stare Where did this statistic come from? Who did the research? Do they mean all homosexuals or just males? What kind of research did they do? Of course, my mom can't answer those questions. She says that her "therapist" didn't do the research, she just gave her the information. My mom is always throwing "facts" like this at me. I just did a google search for Homosexual+Controlling+Mother+Research+90% and got a bunch of conservative sites. Now, I'm not going to just assume that this "therapist" got her information off one of these sites, but I am going to ask my mother to ask this woman where she did get her information rather than just blindly accepting it. My mom has a problem with blindly accepting things. She'd believe about anything she sees on CNN unless it was Tucker Carlson or Bill O'Reilly saying it. She often likes to say things like most pierced and tattooed people are into self mutilation and MTV is making teens think they're gay or bisexual. I told her I want to stretch my lobes, and she said she was shocked. She keeps telling me about old women who've been wearing heavy earrings and now have ear lobes that hang down and how most women don't want their ears to ever look like that. I sometimes want to literally throw a computer at her and tell her to do some research. She has a skewed view of the world based on television, her sister, and whatever one or two friends she may have at the moment. And she calls herself a liberal! Just the other day she told me she doesn't trust teenagers, and I jokingly told her that that was a very Republican thing to say. She was pissed. She hates Republicans with a passion. stressed What does she think a liberal is? Heh, she actually thinks John Kerry is liberal. I get to meet with the counselor again tomorrow. Maybe I'll do some more ranting on this. On the bright side, she has decided that she wants a tattoo that's somehow connected to her name without actually being her name. My cousin suggested a crystal ball, and I mentioned it to her, and she liked the idea of something sparkly. She loves sparkly and glittery things. Well, that's my rant. I'm off to lurk on the forums until this ICQ conversation is over so I can play Diablo. Just got the Battle Chest, want to start with the first game, used the name Lee DeMenthe again, considering changing my Gaia name to that. Hwyl.
