Glimmer in the distance,
A bright vermillion red.
Echoes of lament,
Screaming in my head.
I see a girl lying,
Face down on the ground.
Mangled in her sorrow,
No one else around.
I heard her silent sobbing,
A whimper from afar;
Her body was a pattern,
Depicted from her scars.
I stared into her eyes;
I thought that she was dead.
Although her heart still beat,
Her eyes were ruby red.
Like sparkling fine wine,
An omen or a sign.
A tragic future soon to come;
She spoke just one last time.
She signaled to come closer.
I followed her command.
I gently kneeled closer,
She took me by the hand.
She whispered in my ear,
A phrase I still hold dear,
With the softest sound of lightest lips,
“I’m victim to my fear”.
Her hands became pale,
Her eyes grew faint,
Her vibrancy faded,
Farewell to a saint.
A frightened, innocent soul,
Another addition to the death toll.
A victim of society,
Humanity is null.
So I surmise,
From this premise,
There’s no such thing as “civilized”.
Emotions stale and paralyzed,
Should all just be anesthetized.
The populace removes disguise,
Revealing all the evil ties:
What’s good is bad,
What’s bad is worse,
Upon entering this world,
One’s entitled to this curse.
These are the ways,
How empires rise,
Solace withers, freedom dies.
Benevolence is shrouded lies.
Every second someone cries...
Everywhere are ruby eyes....

A poem (the longest I have written), about the senseless violence of human nature, how people live in fear of everything, because one never knows the day's possibilities.
