what is this thing from where did it come
why is it treasured but then rejected by some
why do we chase it, hate it, deny it and more
never understanding but always keeping score
intelligent tells us it's truely a gift
emotions go full circle and give our heart a lift
fear enters and makes us think twice
is our heart worthy or just being nice
can one person really say love is true
while others suffer and don't know what to do
many have love last a while then it's gone
you could say love is off and then again on
