My name is Amikwa, I'm 16, a Cat-Demon

I'm a runaway...

I've been on the streets of Maliseet for years now, since I was 12 actually. Before then I lived in an up-town house with my parents and "perfect" sister. I guess life life was ok. My dad was a well known doctor and my mom was a reporter for the local news. My older sister was my parents pride and joy, she could do nothing wrong in there eyes. This made me feel like dirt. Nothing I did could please them, nothing I did would meet what my sister could do. So in this time of being ignored and looked down upon I went doing my own business.

I walked the streets and met some interesting people, people who knew what I was going through. One was an old man who walked the same streets (Lune Ave. and Nomad Drive) everyday at 10 a.m. He told me I had a gift, one my parents wouldn't understand. He showed me how to use this "gift". A fire magic that was rare to most Cat-Demons. (most Cat-Demons have earth or nature magic). After a while my parents questioned where I was going and banned me from leaving the house without them.... so I fought back.

One night after a long arguement with them I went to my room. Anger consumed me. They had taken away the freedom I once had for too long. I looked across my room to my candle, it flickered violently. It knew my anger, it felt my pain. I knew what I had to do. I went down stairs to the basement of my house and used my gift to light some boxes and other things on fire. Then I went upstairs to my room, grab a few things (jacket, the candle, a back pack and some money I had) and went out the window. I ran down the street and watch as slowly my house went up in flames.

I learned later both my parents had perished though somehow my sister survived. People believed that I too had perished until they couldn't find any remains. They searched for me but gave up. Since then, I've lived on the streets, fighting, stealing, doing anything I can to survive. I've made friends and I've made enemies.
