Jessina: .....Hm? Oh.....yes.....I like cupcakes.....
She rolled over again, sighing deeply as she did so. Cal chuckled, then went back to the fire.
Lissabelle woke to the sound of a loud clap.
Chase: AGH! WHY DO YOU KEEP SMACKING ME!?!?!?!
Jessina: WHY DO YOU INSIST UPON CALLING ME CUPCAKE?
Chase: Do you not like cupcakes?
Jessina: YES, BUT IT'S NOT MY NAME!!!
The other princess sat up, feeling something soft slip downward off of her chest. She looked down to see Cal's old, red, worn-out jacket.
Cal: Good morning, princess.
Lissabelle: Morning.... And, you can call me Lissabelle...
Cal: Oh...okay Lissabelle...
He held out a hand and helped her to her feet.
Lissabelle: Oh, and, isn't this your jacket? I woke up and it was on top of me...
Cal: Last night I woke up and you looked like you were freezing, so I gave it to you.
Lissabelle: Oh....
She looked to the man, now only wearing a thin t-shirt.
Lissabelle: But weren't you cold?
Cal: Nah. It gets a lot colder up north, so I'm used to this weather.
Lissabelle: Oh, I see...
She held his jacket out towards him and let him take it back.
Cal: So, you ready to get going?
Lissabelle: Mm-hm.
Cal: How about you guys?
Chase: I would be if we'd had breakfast...
Cal: There's a town just a few miles ahead. We can stop there for food and supplies. Okay?
Chase: Okay....
The dark-haired man groaned as his stomach rumbled.
Lissabelle: So what's this town called?
She said as Cal saddled up the white horse and climbed aboard.
Cal: Varielle. It's a small town, kind of poor, but the people are very nice and they have really good food!
He held out his hand and helped the princess onto the mare.
Cal: Not to mention, it's the first town officially in the borders of the northern kingdom.
Lissabelle: Really!?!
Cal: Yup.
Jessina: Yay, more cold weather.
Lissabelle: I don't mind the cold. As long as I'm home.
Jessina pushed Chase aside, further away from the black horse.
Jessina: Nope. Lemme get on first.
Chase: No, I have to get on first. Otherwise, you'd be in front.
Jessina: Exactly. I'm gonna drive.
Chase: Heh. Yeah right you are...
He placed his hands on the saddle, about to mount when the princess shoved his arms off.
Jessina: YES, I am. Yesterday you nearly crashed us, twice.
Chase: He's MY horse. I'm driving!
Jessina: But...
He quickly mounted the horse and kicked him hard, sending the two of them sailing off into the distance.
Chase: You get to walk now, thanks to that!
He shouted from fifty feet away as Cal and Lissabelle followed close behind on Intuition and Jessina stood still.
Jessina: UGH! MEN!
Chase did eventually stop to let Jessina get on (threatened by Cal to do so, of course.) They had been riding for two miles before he was convinced, but then he turned to see her skinny little body in the distance, many many many yards away. He had turned around and pulled her off the ground without saying a word, that is until she was on the back of the steed, arms hugging his torso as he said, "What took ya so long, Cupcake?" Let's just say, after that, he had a handprint on his face.
They finally reached the town by noon. It was a quaint little village with few citizens, but they were a cheerful bunch. Everyone went about their business, smiling and waving to passing friends; Children played in the meadows with toys; adults ran errands or sold their wares to passers by. The air was filled with the aroma of sweets and other foods, making Chase nearly start drooling at the smell of it.
Chase: Foooooood.....
Cal: Yes....food.... I told you they had good food.
Lissabelle: It smells delicious....
Jessina: I'm pretty hungry myself...
Cal: How about this? You guys go get some food--some for me too--and I'll get some water and food for the horses. We'll meet up at the general store to get some supplies.
Chase: Waaaay ahead of ya, pal!
He called over to the rest of the group as he was already standing in line at a small food stand called Sweet Treats.
Jessina: HEY!
She ran over towards the dark-haired man.
Jessina: YOU BETTER BE SAVING ME A SPOT!
Lissabelle laughed at them with Cal, then gave a cute smile and caught up with the two others, apparently fighting over who was going to stand in front of who.
Cal took the reins of the two horses and led them over to a trough and let them drink. Above the trough was a bullatin board of town announcements and such. He was examining the various posters and flyers, when four in particular caught his eye. They read: LISSABELLE FRAY- MISSING! JESSINA FRAY- MISSING! CAL MITCHELL- WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE FOR KIDNAPPING OF THE PRINCESSES! CHASE KIRK- WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE FOR THE KIDNAPPING OF THE PRINCESSES! Below each message was a large picture drawn of each of them, as well as descriptions and their rewards, all of which were ten thousand gold.
Cal: Oh my god... CHASE!
He ripped off the posters and turned towards the shop, but in the process, he had already heard a piercing scream.
Lissabelle: AH! CAL!
She was being dragged off by a tall, heavy man with black bushy hair and a scruffy beard as Chase did his best to fight off anyone else that came his way. Jessina had pulled her knives on a tall, skinny, blonde swordsman, whom was losing to her terribly and had already gained a few scars.
Cal: PRINCESS!
He drew his sword and ran after her, but it was too late. The man had dragged her into a cottage and locked the door behind him. Cal followed and started banging on the door as hard as he could, almost hoping it would crumble at the touch of his hand.
Cal: PRINCESS!!!!!!!!
Lissabelle: CAL! HELP M...
She couldn't finish her sentence for some reason, and Cal was afraid to know why.
Cal: Princess....?
No answer. Though, he didn't have time now, for many large, buff man were walking towards him with weapons of all kinds.
Jessina: CAL! WHAT WAS IT YOU SAID ABOUT THESE PEOPLE BEING FRIENDLY!?!?!
He ignored her cry as he began to try to fight off the people, and he was actually doing well. No matter the strength of the men, they couldn't surpass the skills that took him nearly ten years to master.
Chase: Having...trouble, Cupcake!?
He questioned the princess from behind her, making her stop and turn as her eye twitched as her heart beat with rage.
Jessina: STOP CALLING ME..........!!!!!!!!!!
But as her back was turned, the blonde swordsman lifted her off of her feet and slung her onto her shoulder and carried her off.
Jessina: WHAT THE HELL! PUT ME DOWN! I TELL YOU IF YOU DO NOT PUT ME DOWN THIS INSTANT, I'LL............!!!!!!!!!!
But the door had slammed before she could finish.
Chase: THIS ISN'T WORKING!!!!!
He shoved a stout man away from him as he blocked the weapon of another man before it collided with his head while also kicking another man to the ground.
Eric: Having difficulty?
He approached the crowd with Clara to his right and Brad and Anthony to his right, all of them smiling devilishly as they approached Cal and Chase, whose opponants stopped to examine the newcomers.
Cal: What do you want, Eric?
Eric: Well, let's see. You two and your little traveling companions are up for rewards. I think I want the same thing everyone in this little town wants- you.
Cal: You're gonna hafta beat me first.
Eric: Oh, I intend to. You three go wait in the cart. I'll be back soon with a few bodies...
They obeyed their order as he drew his sword and stared at Cal, still smiling as his opponant looked back at him fiercely, still mad at the loss of his close companion.
