An Ode to Flip Flops
The minute Spring shows her head
I pull you out from my closet,
Where you spent you Winter nights
Plotting your comeback
I waited all February for you
And yes, I know I left you in the closet
Choosing to instead wear sneakers
But I would like to make it known:
I would drop those other shoes in a heart beat
You are my very 1st choice of shoe
And those Converse know it too
So don’t worry
I plan to keep wearing you
‘Til the cold windy days of September force me
To put you back in my closet
For a pair of warmer, more weather resistant shoes
But we have months until that comes
And for now I will savor the sound of you
Smacking against the pavement
On a warm sunny day
LOL
For ILA I had to write an ode so there it is
It's pretty random
I don't think I like odes much...
At least not modern ones
But I really like poetry
