The Edge of Waiting
The Edge of Waiting
is a lonely cliff
the bottom is far
very nearly unseen
as you walk to it
the view narrows
and you realize
there is no escape
this is where you are
not here nor there
no longer anywhere
your final resting place
is just below you
take another step
to reach where you belong
on the Edge of Waiting
we are all pulled down
by the claws of our demons
or pushed by a friend
if you remain there
on The Edge of Waiting
you will wait too long
you will be forgotten
there will be no place
for you In a Heart
they will all leave you
when you stand on that edge
you can let them get
if you want to die
you can turn around now
and face her in the eye
tell her you'll wait
and let her discard
your life your future
your love your effort
all torn to shreds
