Shadows dance in flickering light,
Cold seeps into the warmth of day,
Soft wings that should shield
Cut into defenseless purity...
Dark night,
Their cries resound in your heart,
Battered souls encircle you,
Tears of bitter crystal fall at your feet...
Brightest day,
Ignorance surrounds you,
Their haunted eyes wish you to see,
Blindness...you choose nothing...
Dark night,
Hear the sirens' cry,
Embrace their sorrow,
For they are the mirror...
Deepest night,
They are your mirror,
They reveal the truth,
Your shattered soul...
I took a walk on my campus and came across a viewing of stories about abuse, rape, murder and other acts against humanity. The statisics of these happenings were frightening as was the frozen anger about the area...also the stirrings of sadness as I read true stories written by real people who have suffered because of them. Theses things are very real. They do happen, and they happen frequently. Please look beneath the surface. Look beneath the mask, and perhaps you may be able to help someone...
