(Well this is my first real post so I'll just put this up I thought it was interesting. credits to my textbook)
Did you know?
People had many objections to the Copernican model of the universe (the Earth revolving around the sun). Some people thought:
- If day and night results from Earth rotating, people would be thrown off the planet.
- We would experience an extremely fast easterly wind all the time as Earth rotated under the atmosphere.
- It was an unacceptable to move Earth form the center of the universe. People were not ready to believe they weren't the most important things in the universe (many of us today still have trouble believing this.)
