"Why?"
She looked up at her, her palms were sweating. She was nervous. She was scared. She didn't want to admit it. She look down and with hesitation--"I'm not."
"Natalie, you always avert your eyes, you always speak so quietly." He sighed. "Sometimes I wonder if you avoid me purposely.."
Natalie stroked her long dark hair. Was she afraid? Was she just so shy that she can barely manage a hello out of her mouth to her friend?
No. She stopped herself from even trying to say something. He was more than a friend--more than a "brother".
She always got butterflies in her stomach whenever he tried to talk to her. She was pretty sure that wasn't healthy.
"Well?"
She had almost forgotten that he was there. That's ridiculous--she did forget. She was so absorbed in her own thoughts; her own little sanctuary, trying to sort out her feelings for him.
She attempted to look up but her eyes kept looking towards the side. He was something immortal in her eyes, something someone as weak as her should never gaze upon. It was like a written rule or something and she found herself thinking of that day's history lecture on the caste system in India. She snapped herself out of this and finally--"I...don't mean to..."
He was looking at her. No...he was approaching her. He turned her face to look at her. His eyes showed slight frustration but there was an aura of deep concern nesting deep inside his dark eyes. She wished she had that in her eyes, but they only held fear and emptiness in their watery blue depths. "Natalie.." He leaned his head against hers and she turned pink with fear. "How am I supposed to be with you if you can't even look at me?"
To..be with her? Those words stung her...but in a nice way. Something about his tone of voice...maybe just the words he strung together, that gave her such relieving chills. "I..."
He looked at her with a smile. "Yes...I mean it when I say I want to be with you..." He ran his fingers through her hair. "Its not my fault. The way I see you with your friends...You're just so lively and carefree and...I would give anything to have you be like that with me." He placed his palm on her cheek and lifted her head up more as his lips met hers. Time seemed to stand still for a short while and as soon as he pulled away, Natalie found herself begging for more.
"Timid Angel..." He whispered in her ear. "You've stolen my heart."
She found herself hugging him. "I hope you don't want it back then, Marcus..."
O.O there was my stab at romance...
Its god-awful isn't it?
