“Not this one, either.”
“Well, keep looking, we were given strict orders!”
“Aaw, come on! One of them has to be it!”
“Hey, hey! I FOUN’ TE WINNOR!”
“Surely, they cannot be this stupid!”
“Yes, yes they can be.” I laughed watching the two nutcases chase around the city lampposts, hopelessly trying to stick their tongues amongst the not so frigid metal in the cool December air.
“Wow… This is really something.” Itomi smiled bleakly at the sight.
“WHOOOO-HOOOO!” Lucy screeched, sending birds flying from their resting places in the frozen, bare trees. She had been living with us for quite a few months now (Lucy I mean) and her friend had recently joined the party. “Gertrude” was what Lucy called her, the name “Abner” was given back to her. However, her true name was Jane, but that name was never used.
“Uuuuuuuuuuh, Lu… Lu, I tink I’m ‘tuck…” “Gertrude” whined from the street corner, her words unspeakably deranged from the loss of her of the use of her tongue.
“This ought to be good!” My smile curved upwards. Realizing that it would not be a good idea to laugh full heartedly at the dolts, I decided to be polite and only snickered.
The entire family had gone out for the annual light seeing extravaganza in town. Which included, the Christmas bragging of who possessed the most festive display amongst the neighbors. Now, the entire family stood on the empty sidewalk, watching the scene.
“Ooh, I suppose one of us will have to fetch some hot water…” Daddy sighed.
