My first day of mock GCSE exams has gone ok. 3nodding Art and Chemistry was the deal today. I was worried I'd be finished with my art piece way before the 3 hours (==;; ) was up, but I managed to space it out fairly enough. Although now the thighs of my new jeans are a bit flecked with graphite and chalk and stuff... I had to keep going to the sink to wash the mess off my hands when I needed to do the lighter areas, and we ran out of paper towels (it was actually a miracle we had any to begin with - they don't naturally live and breed in our art room); I foolishly decided to wipe my wet, greyish-hands on my legs and there you have it... Chemistry was deceivingly straight-forward. I suppose it was good, but I don't want to count my chickens. I forgot which exam I've done something like this in before, but I put down a bit of a sarcastic answer. o-o The was question was something like: "Why did the Noble Gases not appear on John Newlands' periodic table?", and I said "Because Noble discovered them, and at a time that was later than Newlands' conception of the periodic table." The red part was what seemed a bit smarty-pants to me, so I don't know how that'll go down. Moreover, I've just checked that with Wikipedia and realised that whoever this 'Noble' person may be, discovering the Noble Gases wasn't one of his achievements. xd sweatdrop So I've seemingly just made him up, although I remember thinking some person called Noble named them as they are for a while now, so I suppose it's not too far-fetched...
> Oh, I've found who I thought it was - Alfred Noble - who was actually 'Past President of the American Society of Civil Engineers', or so says Wikipedia's great eye of knowledge... And you might be interested to know there's a prize named after him. 'The Alfred Noble Prize is an award presented by the combined engineering societies of the United States, given each year to a person not over thirty-five for a paper published in one of the journals of the participating societies.' Furthermore: 'It has no connection to the Alfred Nobel Prize, although the two are often confused due to their similar spellings.'
...Oh, I can imagine how they must laugh when they get it wrong. XD;
"Thank you for nominating me for the honour of receiving the prestigious Alfred Nobel Prize..." "...It's the Alfred NOBLE Prize!!" "s**t! Wrong ceremony!"
My mind's a bit overactive right now... >~< This was only supposed to be a tiny entry about the exams. x3; I'll leave now.
