“You murderer! You ******** b*****d!”

Her body floods with burning flares that make her aura shout danger. Her voice, energy that amplifies itself down the alley turns into pure fire, zapping its way around and about, toward the beast, formerly known as Lloyd. Power so pure and so strong could have killed cities if she chose it to, but it is not enough to destroy this threat. Elaine and her friends only managed to contain the beast within another realm, hopefully for the remainder of its days. Once the realm gate closed, Alerd turns to witness Elaine collapsing onto the ground.

“Dear God!”

Hearing Alerd’s (Aio’s) words, Andrew turns to see his wife, the one thing worth more than gold to him, lying on the ground. He hurries to her, hoping that the worst has not happened. “Elaine! Elaine! Baby, wake up!”

“What’s wrong with her?” wonders Lucky as panic begins to spread.

“Quick, she needs fresh air. Let’s go outside!” The group rushes out into the streetlights of the night. Vida sees red trickling down Elaine’s scrawny legs. This is not good.

“Lucky, grab a taxi! Now! The babies are coming!”

Lucky waves into the air as five taxi cabs stop right in front of him. They all pile into the first few cabs and speed off toward the hospital. Vida tries to calm Andrew down, but his mind is focused on his beloved, who grows paler with each minute. He whispers words of serenity to her, until her red burning flare dissipates.

“No, no! Stay with us, Elaine! Stay with me! We need you, honey! Your family needs you! I need you!”

Finally, the cabs stop as Andrew runs in with Elaine. The battle forced Elaine to use her energy on vengeance instead of the safety of her unborn children. Now with death lying so near and with children far from the due date, the worst is believed to happen. Elaine is too weak to deliver. The twins are too premature to survive. Andrew may be alone once again. No, it’s not gonna happen! She WILL survive!

“Who is the father or the husband?” Asks a doctor that enters the waiting room. Andrew throws himself at the doctor, worried that the worst is taking course. “Calm down, sir. Now, she seems to be exhausted in some way, maybe mentally drained. I am not sure, but the truth is that she is too weak, and if we try to operate on her, she will die.”

“…no, not Elaine…”

“Another concern of mine is the twins. They are fairly premature to the point that they may not survive on their own. We would need cubicles and machinery to help them breathe properly…and they would have to stay in the hospital. But that is, IF they survive. Like I said, your wife is very weak. We may lose all three of them.” Andrew’s grip on the doctor’s lab coat quickly tightens as teardrops seep onto his trench coat.

“Then what KIND OF DOCTOR ARE YOU!”

“Listen, it hurts me to say this, but if my staff and I focus on saving one, the other may die or worse. So, if that is the case, then I must ask you, if you want us to save someone, who would you prefer?” The doctor is unable to shake Andrew’s grip off. Alerd approaches Andrew, so devastated, so full of rage.

“How can you expect me to choose between the woman I love and the children she’s giving me?!?!”

“Andrew, calm down. Your wife will be fine. I know it.” Her eyes lock with his, voicing a moment of tranquility. His eyes finally close as his grip on the doctor loosens up for his hands to fall onto his sides. His eyes, once again, look at the doctor.

“Please, save Elaine. She is all that matters to me.” The doctor nods and turns to the door. Suddenly, a hand rests on Andrew’s shoulder.

“Do not worry, I will make sure your family is safe and out of harm’s way.” Words of the doctor that managed to keep an eye on her since before they even knew about the twins. He soon follows the other doctor into the other room. Everyone sits and waits for destiny to take its course.

Twenty-three hours later…

People rest upon chairs at the waiting room. Max insists that Andrew rest, at least for a little while, but he sits focused on the door that blocks him from his one true love, the little skinny girl that trips with her words and herself; the strange witty wife of his that stole his heart the moment he laid eyes on her. Max then offers Andrew words of comfort.

At last, Elaine’s doctor swings the door open. He is alone; the hospital doctor does not follow. Andrew jumps out of his chair toward him.

“Where is she? Is she fine? Tell me Elaine will be alright!” His words force the rest of the party to get up from their resting places. Andrew’s blood shot eyes cry for an answer, anything that will tell him all is well.

“Elaine will be fine, Andrew. I told you that I would make sure of it.” Sighs fill the room as Andrew finally falls into relief. “…and, may I add, that you have two tiny, but beautiful babies.” The room becomes silent for a moment of two.

“…two…babies are…my babies are…” Andrew rushes through the doors to find his family.

“I am so good. Tell me I’m good,” says the doctor as he points to Griff. He smiles at him.

“You’re good.”

“Oh yea! Thank you!”

“Can we see them?” Asks Alerd. The doctor motions a no with his head.

“Let Andrew spend some time with them; but after that, Elaine is going to need lots of rest.”

Through the doors and down the hallway, Andrew stops at a window wear a small baby is wrapped with a pink blanket while the nurse wraps up another small baby with a light blue blanket. His eyes can not contain the tears that fall like waterfalls over a cliff. Real tears. His children, one boy and one girl, are alive. He smiles at them, hoping to hold them with his arms. A quick shake of his head reminds him about Elaine, thus pursuing his search for her down the hallway.

Room 504, Elaine’s Room. She lies asleep on her bed, like sleeping beauty only less curvaceous and more brunette. His hand slowly caresses her cheek.

“I can’t believe I almost lost you,” he whispers to the patient. “But no more, I will protect you and make sure this never happens again.”

One week later…

Room 504, Elaine’s Room. Alerd nods her head, understanding completely what she is to do. She leaves the room, pushing away one of the two rest beds of the twins, Vida pushing the other. Elaine’s sniffles continue as she can no longer see her babies. Andrew holds his little wife as tears now follow her cries. But she had to, they had.

Elaine still needs to know exactly what happened to her mother and why her family line is an “abomination”. This “curse” needs to stop. Bringing the babies with her is the dumbest idea anyone can have. They are too precious and too vulnerable for this journey. Andrew agrees to this decision as he consoles his emotional wife.

“We’ll come back for them,” she weeps. Andrew nods.

“Of course we will.”

“Rest assure that they’ll be in good hands,” replies Max. “You can trust me.”

It’s the best for the twins. It is also important that they do not know where Andrew and Elaine are heading. This way, the children will not be in danger and grow up to have as normal of lives as they can…with this party, that will be tricky on its own. Right now, Elaine wants answers and the one person that can give them to her is Mr. Grey. Andrew swears to protect her and that her purpose is now his purpose.

“Good bye, Elliot! Good bye, Alexia!”

Three years later…

Alerd, Vida and the rest of the group do their best in raising the twins. Griff cannot wait until Elliot gets his wolf form. He is hoping to help Elliot accept his werewolf blood, unlike Elliot’s father. Vida and Alerd, understanding Elaine’s history, will do the best they can in teaching Alexia about her craft once it awakens. Right now, however, they live lives of a wacky family that lives in Boston…in a bookstore…where many people know magic exists…hiding something…or someone.

Due to Vida not wanting to move out of her bookstore, and from Boston for that matter, a strange figure makes his way there. Vida starts to feel his corrupted powers getting close, but she detects it too late. His long blue black hair swings about behind him as dark cloaks conceal his true potential. A symbol of a triangle with strange squiggles around it is tattooed over his right eye as he points to Alerd.

“At last, Gabrielle, I have found you. This time, you will not win!” Confused with his words, the group prepares to defend themselves.

“Um, I’m Alerd…” Her words stop once the Spartan stands in front of her, unsheathing his sword.

“Do not worry, my lady, I shall protect you until the end.” The dark figure stands tall as he smirks at the Spartan.

“Do you really think this mortal can stop me, Gabrielle? Have you grown meek within the years?” He comes to settle an old score with Gabrielle and will not leave until it is done. Vida moves the twins to the back and creates a magic barrier over them. She then returns to the party.

Casualties begin to take place as they do not know exactly what it is they are battling. All that approaches him is destroyed. Spells, weapons, claws, individual moves, joint struggles, all seem futile. Griff, thinking nothing of all that his eyes see, lunges himself at the dark character. Without as much as an effort, the dark figure swirls about, not only dodging the werewolf, but throwing him across the room. The werewolf then tries to blast him with fire to only have the dark figure block it and throw back at him an energy ball. Griff bursts into flames within seconds and falls onto the ground. The books all move away from the burning corpse.

“That energy ball!! That power!! It can break my barrier without as much as trying,” gasps Vida. The sinister stranger only laughs. “Max! Grab the twins and get the hell outta here! Everyone, attack him at full force! Don’t hold back!”

Max dodges into the back, grabs the crying twins, and runs out the back door as quickly as possible. No turning back. This is serious. Whatever this guy is, he means business and will not rest until Gabrielle or Alerd is dead. Max manages to find a vehicle and tries hot-wiring it. He buckles the kids in the back seat and speeds off. Max can hear sirens filling the air as his companions battle an unknown evil. But all will be fine. They always manage to stay on top of things. Why should this be any different?

He looks at his rear-view mirror of the vehicle to see the battle now taking place outside. He witnesses Alerd decomposing into her true age, then into dust in the wind.

“s**t!”

Fear takes over all that watched. Alerd is great with her craft, but that is not enough. Now, it does not matter. Alerd is gone. Max drives faster than before, regardless of the consequences. This is serious. Blasts and shouts take over all sounds. Slowly, his companions are dying as they take on what seems to be invincible to destroy. This is a new evil, a real evil, unlike any other. Fighting him is suicide. The only thing Max can do is run away, run as far away as he possibly can. He turns to the sounds of Elliot and Alexia, crying as loud as their lungs can let them.

But what…? What if…? What if Andrew and Elaine were…? No. Not a chance. If Alerd died so easily, then who’s to say that Max’s friends would not suffer the same fate? Besides, there is no proof that Andrew and Elaine are even still alive. But Elliot and Alexia. They might have the same strength, the same drive as their parents. No, it would not be right. Max needs to protect them.

“I won’t let you down, Andrew! I promise! You can trust me!”

Smoke fills the sky of where once stood a little bookstore where a small group of people saved the world. Max just keeps driving. Chicago…Miami…Oklahoma…Anywhere to save himself and the twins. Get away. Leave Boston and never come back. Never go back there. Never cross paths with him again. His quarrel was with Alerd, anyway, and that is taken care of.

“Everything is gonna be okay from now on…I hope.”

Thirteen years later…

A small simple house suddenly fills with the ringing of the telephone. Max answers it to find a familiar voice on the other line.

“Hello, Mrs. Benoit,” the principal of the high school where the twins attend. Whenever she calls, Max is forced to stay neutral until both sides of the story is heard, which is hard to do.

“Yes, we need to have a conference with you regarding a suspension, going for long term mind you, and a possible expulsion.”

“Wait why? Is it that bad?” Through some twist of fate, Alexia seems to be the problem child with her taste in clothes being too revealing, her choice in following her crowd of friends, and her lip always talking back to teachers. She is the bad fruit, not by much, but still the bad fruit. Elliot, on the other hand, is the prefect student. Excellent academic achievement, never fighting, never having problems with anyone.

“You child disrupted class today and-“

“Is that a reason for a possible expulsion, Mrs. Benoit? I mean, come on now.”

“We believe your child had some form of weapon in class that not only destroyed school property within seconds, but also endangered the lives of others,” explains the principal in her calm voice.

“…I see…”

“Yes, and when asked to retrieve it, the child denied having anything of the sort. There is a locker search going on right now as we speak and I have already examined the backpack. Still, you need to come to the school right now.”

Could Alexia’s craft been awaken? Either way, Max head over to the school. This is great; Alexia is only sixteen years old. Did Elaine get her craft that young?

Max enters the principal’s office to find a young boy where his glasses and a hooded sweater. Confusion scratches onto his face. What is Elliot doing here?

“Thank you for coming. This is the story, according to your son. He was reading for his Pre-Calculus class and did not understanding the material, so he threw the book across the room while being frustrated. The book almost hit the teacher when it burned and turned into dust on its own.”

“…I see…please, continue.” Max glances at Elliot. He does not look up at him. Elliot’s eyes focus on the cracks of Mrs. Benoit’s desk.

“Now, the teacher, paranoid as you can imagine, demanded that he turn in the item he used to destroy the book, but Elliot insisted that he has none.”

“I understand.”

“So, do you see my predicament?”

“Yes, I will take care of this immediately.”

“No, it is far greater than that. You see, students saw an electrical current coming from Elliot. For reasons unknown to me, Elliot is a threat to the school. I cannot have him endangering the lives of others.” Is she serious? Elliot is the quiet one, the good one. He does not deal with confrontation…unless it involves Alexia.

“Are you sure it came from him? I assure you, Elliot is a good young man and would never try to harm anyone intentionally.” The principal looks at Max a little perplexed. “Please, let me deal with this. I will find the best help the boy can get.”

“Very well, but the suspension is still a must. He needs to learn that with every action comes a consequence. Therefore, starting today, Elliot will be suspended for 10 days.”

“Agreed.” Max shakes her hand and exits the office with the boy. Once driving home, Max finally breaks the silence. “So, you finally hit puberty? I guess it’s time to talk about the birds and the bees, huh…”

A couple of weeks later…

Alexia is one of the most popular girls in school. Her beauty and presence attracted everyone, including Julio, the star basketball player in the varsity team. They have gone out for a while now, and Alexia is ecstatic about going to the school’s semi-formal with him.

Lately, however, people have been treating her a little different. Popularity is still there, but comments start to bug her. Rumor has it that Alexia is a sure win. At first, she ignored it, but now the whole school is talking about it. She finds herself sometimes sitting with Elliot during the lunch break, SOMETIMES! Face it, although they are siblings and know that they have only one another; Alexia and Elliot are in different worlds. She is a social bug, while Elliot is an intellect. Alexia specializes in public social events; Elliot disciplines himself in the martial arts. Alexia wants to look good; Elliot wants to be left alone. For twins, they are as different as night and day.

During lunch block, Alexia spots a couple of the basketball team members talking to Elliot as he only sits there, reading his book, as usual.

“So, I hear your sister’s a door knob. Heh! Heh!”

“Yeah, a real animal!”

“When can I have a turn at her!?!”

Elliot just turned the page in his book. “Don’t talk about my sister like that.” Not once does he bother to look at them.

“Whatever! I bet she ain’t even your sister! C’mon boys! Let’s find the cheerleaders!”

Alexia can’t figure out who would start a horrible rumor about herself. Yes, she’s flirtacous and enjoys the company of boys, but she has moral values…if that’s hard to believe. Alexia, although a prime example of what guys want in a girl, would never let a guy go that far with her. Ever!

“I must talk to Julio.”

The night arrives as Alexia sits in her bedroom with Julio. Normally, her bedroom door is open when she has boys over her room. Today, however, that door was shut. Her privacy is important right now as she looks into Julio’s eyes.

“Hey, baby! What’s up? You look weirded out or something.”

“Julio, I want you to know that those rumors about me are false.”

“Yeah, baby I know.”

“Do you? Because I don’t think you do!”

Julio gets up and embraces his girl. Her eyes reflect hurt as Julio softly kisses her lips. “Baby, you need to understand that people are immature with their rumors and s**t. Now I, I love you. But, basketball season is almost over and not once have you tried to score with the master.”

“Julio! I told you before, I am not that type of girl!”

“Then, guess what honey bunch…I am not that type of guy.”

“Wha-what?” Tears begin to blur his image.

“Yep. You had your chance and you lost. Stacy said she’ll give me a night I will never forget. So, unless you lose this cockin’ bull story about you savin’ yourself, I’m outta here.” His eyes widen a bit as he sees those soft sincere eyes change into rage and despair.

“But…but I love you, Julio. You, you said we would be forever! You said you loved me! You said we would be together forever!” Her voice suddenly deepens as her breathing quickens. Her image becomes dark as her body seems to shimmer…into something else.

“Al..Alexia..” is the only word to quiver out of his mouth.

“We were supposed to graduate and go to the same college! We were supposed to get married and live next door to Brian and Rebecca! How can you do this to me?!?!”

“Alexia, cool it! Man, you scaring me!!”

“YOU SAID YOU LOVED ME!!!!” Her clothes rip off as her body morphs into a huge beast form. Tears continue falling, but the sincerity is gone.

Max rushes into the house at the sound of crashing and screaming coming from upstairs. His eyes notice Elliot, sitting on the couch with his book as he points upstairs.

“Julio and Alexia are upstairs,” says Elliot as he rests the book on his lap, cleans his glasses a bit, puts them back on, grabs the book, and continues with his reading.

“s**t!” The worse crosses Max’s mind. How dare Julio abuse his trust in him by trying to take advantage of poor Alexia? He runs up the stairs and swings open Alexia’s bedroom door. Max’s eyes widen completely. “OH s**t!!!” He quickly shuts the door at the sight of a ferocious werewolf ripping the arms off what is left of Julio. His back is turned against the door while sweats trickle down his forehead.

Four days later…

(Television is on)

“…While in other news, a family of four is dead at a camp near Lake Michigan. A small boat is found in flames with two bodies burnt alive. The other two were found each with one bullet shot to the head.”

“An eye witness said the suspect did not board the boat, but only waved her hand in the air and flames came from nowhere. The other suspect that shot the other two victims was nowhere near them as well. The gun shot was at a far away distance, it would have been impossible to hit them. The witness is being tested for drugs and questioned as a possible suspect himself.”

“The boat itself is burnt to ashes, so it is too late to examine for possible malfunctions. The bodies were identified as Mr. Harris Grey, Mr. Michael Grey, Ms. Laura Violet and Mrs. Jessica Violet.”
