Last night, I saw the musical play Chicago! It's an exciting story about, " Murder, greed, corruption, violence, exploitation, adultery, and treachery....all those things we hold near and dear to our hearts."
It starts out in a bar where Velma Kelly sings "All that Jazz" and soon after Roxie Harte shoots Fred Casely and so on.
The musical numbers I found to be most enjoyable were:
All That Jazz
Cell Block Tango
When You're good to Mama
All I Care About is Love
We Both Reached for the Gun
I Can't Do it Alone
Mister Cellophane
Razzle Dazzle
Class
and finally, Nowadays
The acting, singing, and dancing was astounding and far better than I expected. The actors and actresses that perticularly excellent were the people that played Velma Kelly, Roxie Harte, Billy Flynn, Matron "Mama", Amos Harte, and Mary Sunshine!Mary Sunshine was a guy in the play which was super cool! We all got a good laugh out of that!
What was really wierd about the play was the Orchestra pit was right on stage. That was really cool but the wierd part was I knew the Conductor, Saxaphone player, and Drummer. The Conductor was the Orchestra teacher at my school, the Saxaphone player was my ex-Band teacher, and the drummer was my really cool and funny Health teacher! Oh, and they had this really famous Las Vegas Dancer in the play named Kim...um somthing-or-other!
I was so amazed by Chicago that I hope to be in it one day....of course, then I would have to learn how to dance, which I can't! sweatdrop I hope to be in theater one day! Maybe even Broadway! heart I can dream and I'm confident that it will happen!
I went with my Great-Grandma and her friend. It was kinda embarassing because I couldn't laugh at some of the offensive, yet funny, stuff. My grandma said, " You'll have to wash out your ears after this! Such language!" sweatdrop (Of course I didn't)
But other than that it was fun!
I wish I could see it again, it was really good! I'd advise everyone who likes musicals to see it! heart
