Destiny opened her eyes the next morning, and moaned. "Six AM? That's too early!" she said, pulling the blankets over her head and attempting to fall back asleep. It didn't work very well, so she gave up on trying to sleep in and got up.
At the office, Destiny found a fresh pile of paperwork on her desk, obscuring her view of everything. "Oh man! First, I wake up at six. Now, I have piles of paperwork to do. Could this day get any worse?" she muttered, picking up a pencil and reaching for the top sheet of the closest pile of paper.
"MIGOTO!" Yasashimi yelled, from in his office.
Destiny froze, her hand inches above the papers, and closed her eyes. "I... had... to ask" she said, getting up and making her way slowly towards his office.
"Finally! Took you long enough!" The Lieutenant muttered, gesturing to the chair in front of his desk.
Destiny fell into it, crossing her arms and laying them on the desk. "Sorry" she yawned.
"Anyhow, there's work to be done. You're going on patrol again today with Yamato. In fact, he should be in here" Yasashimi said, standing up and walking over to the door.
Destiny yawned again when Tanoshii walked in, standing beside her.
He smirked, "Stayed up too late?" he asked.
"No...woke up too early" she sighed.
"Getting back to buisness. You two have to go out again. You know the drill. Too many bombings, too little officers. Too big a city. Are you listening to me, Migoto?" Yasashimi asked, frowning at her.
Destiny didn't answer. Tanoshii kneeled down, looking curiously at her. "Destiny... wake up" he said softly.
"Huh? What?!" she sat bolt upright immediately.
"If you fall asleep on me one more time, I'm going to suspend you" Yasashimi said, looking frusterated.
Destiny grinned sheepishly, "No...problem"
On the streets of Tokyo, in the year 4050, there are many things to see. The best place in which to see said things is the multi-cultural section. Little Universe, as the locals fondly refer to it. There are shops from all around the universe, as the name suggests; from holistic medicines from Ka'aron to musical instruments from Arxon. Every shop from every planet, the best you can get.
The culture in Tokyo astounding, and L.U. being Tanoshii and Destiny's location, you would expect Destiny to be excited. Unfortunately, she had fallen asleep again, leaning against a wall.
"Destiny! Wake up!" Tanoshii hissed at her, whacking her over the head.
She fell to the ground, quickly jumping up again. "Don't do that!" she said, whacking him back.
"Sorry, but you need to focus" he said.
She frowned at him, "How're we supposed to find the alien bombers if we don't even know what planet they're from?! What then, Mr. Smarty-pants?! Or do you have an answer to every question?!" Destiny asked testily, frowning.
Tanoshii blinked, looking startled. "You need some coffee or something. I'll be right back" he said, walking away.
"I'll have you know I don't do caffine!" she yelled after him, shaking her fist.
"Okay, I'm back!" Tanoshii said cheerfully, walking back over to Destiny five minutes later.
"About time" she muttered.
"Here, this one's yours" he said, handing her what smelled strongly like an espresso, except in far too large a cup for something that concentrated.
"What is it?" she asked, making a face.
"It's...coffee" he said, avoiding the question.
"No, I mean; what kind?" she asked, still rather suspicious.
"The kind...that...it's...just drink it. You won't fall asleep for a week, I guarantee it" he said, smiling innocently.
She raised her eyebrows at him, and hesitantly took a sip.
"Well?" he asked curiously.
"That stuff is strong!" she said, blinking heavily.
"Go ahead, you've still got the whole cup" Tanoshii said, his smile widening.
"I know I'm going to regret this" Destiny muttered, drinking the rest of it.
Sitting on some steps outside an apartment, staring into the crowd, Tanoshii tried to ignore Destiny's non-stop chatter.
"You know what this place is awesome I love it here one I went to this store and there was this guy he looked like that other guy anyhow there was this colourful thing I wanted to buy it but it was too much and I didn't have that much so I asked my dad for some money but he wouldn't give it to me and I got mad and that was the last time I ever came here see anything yet?" Destiny said breathlessly.
"No. I kind of regret getting you that stuff now" Tanoshii sighed, shaking his head.
"Well I did tell you that I don't do caffine now do you know why it makes me hyper I can't stop talking even the slightest bit makes me hyper so since I had so much I think I'm super hyper am I the only one seeing sparkles here?" Destiny asked, waving her hand in front of her eyes.
Tanoshii raised his eyebrows at her, and turned back to the crowd.
Destiny turned her attention to her name tage, and that, if she turned it at a specific angle, it would shine onto the sidewalk.
After a few minutes of more mindless babble, Tanoshii finally got tired of Destiny and dragged her off by the wrist.
"Where's we going is it somewhere fun are we going to the park is anyone else there or are we going to a criminal's house ooh I hope not we could DIE!" she said, her eyes widening.
"We're going somewhere nice and peaceful. Somewhere where no one can hurt you" Tanoshii said soothingly, putting one arm around her shoulders.
"I don't like the tone of your voice you're going to kill me aren't you oh my gosh you hate me you always have I can see it in your eyes!" she said scaredly.
Ending up in front of a rather large building on a hill, Destiny gasped. "Where are we? It looks like a castle! Is this the queen's house?" she asked, looking curiously at Tanoshii.
He ignored her, walking up to the large and mean looking guard standing at the gate.
"Can I help you?" he asked.
"We're here on...buisness" Tanoshii said, showing his badge.
"Go ahead" the guard said, opening the gate with the press of a button.
"This is creepy is this place haunted I bet it is who lives here is it someone I should know 'cause I can't remember who lives here" Destiny said, looking up at the menacing brick building.
"Relax, Destiny" Tanoshii said, in the soothing voice again. The doors opened automatically when the two reached them, and Destiny's eyes widened.
"Ooh" she said, staring around, "It's like a hospital in here is it a hospital is someone sick is it me is it you what have we got is it deadly?" she asked.
"It's you. You could call it a hospital. I'm leaving you here for the day, but don't worry; I'll be back" he said.
"But what if you don't come back what if you forget about me why are you leaving me here is it something I did why would I call it a hospital? hospital?! is someone sick is it me is it you what have we got is it deadly?" she asked, still staring at everything curiously. she listened carefully, but couldn't make out anything Tanoshii was saying.
He was talking to someone else; a girl. The girl laughed and Tanoshii left, waving at Destiny.
She waved back confusedly, and the girl took her arm and led her down the hall. She opened a door and lead Destiny into a large and empty room. "Hmm... why are we here?" Destiny asked.
"Because you need to settle down, Destiny. Don't worry, Tanoshii will come back for you" the girl said, walking out and closing the door.
Destiny ran towards the door, but realized there was no handle. "Aah! I'm in jail! lemme out! I'm innocent!" she shrieked, pounding her fists against the walls. Not much happened, because the walls were padded and white. "Oh man! Why do these things happen to me? Well, they can't stop me! muahahah! I have a las-... oh" she said, looking for her laser and finding it wasn't on her hip anymore. "Damn you Tanoshii Yamato!" she yelled, falling her to her knees.
Tanoshii walked back towards downtown Tokyo. "I feel bad for leaving Destiny" he thought, "but it's my fault it happened in the first place. Oh well. She's annoying" he said, shrugging and smiling. "Now, what am I looking for?" he asked himself, looking around.
Noticing a girl in black duck down an alley way upon seeing him, he raised his eyebrows. "What the...?" he thought, drawing his laser and running after her. The alley was completely deserted; not even the girl was there. "Damn! Where'd she go?!" he muttered under his breath. From further down the alley he heard footsteps, and ran down it.
"Hello?" he called, looking around for the girl. Suddenly, someone pulled him backwards into a building. "What the hell?!" he thought, looking around wildly. The person who grabbed him was the girl who ran from him.
"You followed me. Exactly as planned. You are Tanoshii Yamato, yes?" she asked, with a Russian accent.
"Who are you?" he asked, very confused.
"It vas a mistake to follow me. But ve know you know about Abunai" she said, "And now, ve 'ave to kill you"
"We? Wha...?" he asked nervously, trailing off.
Laughter echoed in the background, as a man walked into the dim room. "Zola! Calm down!" the man said, smiling.
Zola frowned over her shoulder at him, but backed away from Tanoshii.
"Who are you people?" Tanoshii asked.
"Allow me. I am Sora, and this is Zola. We...let's just say we work for Abunai. And we know that you know about it" he said, leaning close to Tanoshii threateningly but still smiling.
"Idiot! Now ve really 'ave to kill 'im!" Zola growled at her partner.
"No we do not have to kill him. Not just yet. He could be valuable to us" Sora said softly, grinning.
"Honestly; I don't know anything about any of this!" Tanoshii said, smiling nervously.
"Mr. Yamato, we know you and your partner have been researching Abunai. We have orders to follow; capture and kill anyone with direct information on Abunai. We have even stricter orders to follow directly from Abunai. Find Destiny Migoto, and kill whoever is precious to her in front of her eyes. We've been monitoring you and you fit that description perfectly" Sora explained, "We would have to kill you anyhow. We just need to keep our little existance secret, so we're going to have to keep you here, alright?" Sora asked cheerfully.
"No! Not alright! You're insane if you think you can keep me here!" Tanoshii said loudly.
Sora quickly lost his sunny disposition. "If we don't keep you here and alive, we get rid of you, kapeesh?" he said dangerously.
"Kapi...kapi...yeah" Tanoshii stuttered nervously.
"Good! Zola, you can take over from here!" Sora said, smiling again.
"Vith pleasure" Zola smiled evily, walking towards Tanoshii.

At three P.M., after waiting two hours longer than she was told, the receptionist at the asylum decided to let Destiny go. She walked down the quiet, empty hallways, her shoes making audiable taps with every footstep. She finally came to room 309, and pulled out her keys. She opened the door, to find Destiny sitting in a corner, twitching.
"Finally!" she said exasperatedly, jumping up and running to the door. "Where's Tanoshii?! I can't wait to hit him!"
"You mean that other police officer? Oh, sweetie, he never came back" the receptionist smiled reassuringly.
"Listen..." Destiny said, pausing to look at her nametag, "...Alice, I am sick of being here, so if you don't get outta my way right now, I'll blast you" she said annoyedly, frowning.
"But you don't have a laser" Alice said, stepping aside.
"Wanna test that theory?" Destiny asked dangerously.
Alice's eyes widened momentarily, before she shook her head and scurried back down the hallway.
"Good. Now, to get back to HQ and hit Tanoshii. Hard" Destiny muttered, walking out, "Nobody forgets me and gets away with it!"
"What...do you mean...he didn't come back?" Destiny asked, her eye twitching.
"I mean; he hasn't come back yet. Nobody knows where he went. The last time I heard from him he was with you" Lieutenant Yasashimi said, looking slightly worried.
"Oh man! Well, aren't you going to search for him or something?!" she asked, also looking worried. Though she was more worried than Yasashimi. Destiny saw this as her fault, as she had not been there to help.
"We're not allowed to declare it a missing person's case until tomorrow, so for now he's on his own" Yasashimi sighed.
Destiny fell into the chair in front of his desk and cradled her head in her hands. "This is not happening... he didn't go missing because of me...he just can't!" she cried, her eyes welling up.
"Relax, Migoto. It's not like he can't handle himself" Yasashimi said, putting a hand on her shoulder and smiling kindly.
"I know that...I'm still a little high on caffine" she said, looking up at him with bloodshot eyes.
"Oh. That makes sense. Anyhow, I think you should go home; get some rest" he said.
"I can't do that" Destiny said airily.
"And why not?"
"Because I won't be able to sleep for a week! Tanoshii gave me a whole cut of espresso this morning!" she said irritatedly, frowning and jumping up. She flung the door to Yasashimi's office open, and slammed it shut behind her, shaking the large pane of glass in it.
Yasashimi blinked heavily, staring after her.
Destiny eventually found her way home. Falling onto the couch, she flicked the television on. "Time for the news. Maybe something good happened today, for a change" she muttered, turning to the correct channel.
"Good evening. I'm Airashii Yugata. Alien terrorists bombed the city of Tokyo again today in what seems to be a relatively mild attack in a string of invasions. And later, one of the TPD's top officers has gone missing in what police can only assume is an abduction by enemy forces. Those stories, and others, coming up" Airashii, the news anchor said.
Destiny straightened up, leaning closer to listen.
"Members of the public were stunned today as an office building in downtown Tokyo was bombed this afternoon by terrorists. Our own Bengi Yamauchi takes you live to the scene" Airashii continued.
The picture changed, to show the 'on the scene' reporter, Bengi Yamauchi, standing in front of a huge fire. "Airashii, as you can see, the scene behind me is devastating. Over three million dollars worth of damage was sustained here today as an enemy ship crashed into the two hundredth floor of Hiraio Inc. this afternoon. The fire you can see behind me is uncontainable, and this portion of the company will have lost billions of dollars because of this. One witness managed to catch the bombing on video" Bengi explained.
Destiny, glued to the screen, watched in horror as the video of an enemy ship slamming into the building was played. A frame of the video was put up in the corner as Bengi continued talking.
Destiny studied the ship in the still shot, about to connect with the side of the building. She noticed the same symbols on the side of the ship that had been at the bombing site days before, that she had investigated with Tanoshii. "Damn it... Abunai, whatever the heck you are!" she thought, frowning.
During a commercial break, Destiny thought about why the invaders were bombing Tokyo so much. "Maybe because we've got such highly advanced technology... maybe because we're a huge metropolitan area..." she thought, listing her reasons.
The news came back on, and the story was about Tanoshii's disappearance.
"This afternoon, around the time of the latest bombing, one of Tokyo's finest police officers was reported missing. While searching for any suspects involved in the invasions, TPD's Tanoshii Yamato went missing after leaving his partner, Destiny Migoto. The Lieutenant, one Robert Yasashimi, had this to say" Airashii explained.
The Lieutenant came up, inerviewed by another of Tokyo's top reporters. "I don't know what to say" he said, "I'm hoping that Tanoshii is alright"
"Have you gotten any word from Yamato or his possible abductors?" the reporter asked.
"No, we haven't heard anything from anyone, which has us a little on edge" Yasashimi said.
"Any comment on how or why you think this might've happened?"
"Not particularly. I have no idea why this happened, but I do have some knowledge as to how he got himself into this situation. Apparently, he left his partner, officer Migoto, because she was bothering him. And he knew very well that he was supposed to stay with her" Yasashimi said, crossing his arms.
"Yeah! It's Tanoshii's fault, not mine!" Destiny said, turning up her nose and crossing her arms as well.
