stressed So, this is to be my first rant I guess I should make it a good one. I feel I should rant about the technologically retarded customer. There are 2 kinds of these people but I think I am getting a little ahead of myself. You might not know that I work in a cell phone store. We have customers come in all the time that totally drive me bonkers, but these customers are really at the top of the annoying chart. As I said, there are 2 kinds of technologically retarded customers, the kind who just are totally clueless and then kind who think they know EVERYTHING. In this past week I have had both extremes. I had a sweet old woman who wanted to upgrade her 5 year old phone to one that had really big keys, a single line non color display phone with NO features. After she looked at every phone we had on the display, she turned to my desk and picked up the store phone and asked how much that would be on her plan. Do you know how hard it is to politely explain to someone the difference between cellular phone and land line phones!!!
The other customer that I had today that fit into this category was looking for a 1.3 or greater mega-pixel camera, was quad band, had a speaker phone, had a built in FM radio, did not have an MP3 player, had non allocated memory, and also had a took a sd card. First off, if you are that clear on what you want, go to phonescoop.com. Don’t go into a store and expect the reps there to know every feature of every phone. I have worked there for 7 years and phones change monthly. There is no way I will remember every little detail like that. But, the thing about those customers that really gets to me is that don’t seem to give a crap if their phone works well as a PHONE! I look at it like this, at the very basics, your cell phone is for an emergency. No matter what else you do with it, we all keep them incase of an emergency. What the hell good will a 1.3 mega-pixel and an FM radio do for you if you are broken down on the side of the road with no help around. Why don’t people care about quality of things anymore. I am so tired of these stupid people who want phones like the RAZR because their friends have them or they saw it on tv. Guess what people, companies don’t advertise based on what is good and bad, they advertise based off of what sells. If they really cared about you getting a good phone, then they would only advertise nokia phones.
There are just too many stupid people out there today. I really hope that they are not all breeding making a new generation of stupider kids.
