	Why be honest?
	Why be honest?


Is honesty always the best policy? If not, when is it ok to not be honest? Why does it seem that you hurt the people you love whether you are honest or not? I hurt someone today that I absolutely love to death. All because she wanted an honest answer to a question that I really should have answered long ago without her having to ask. I could have lied and maybe I would have saved her feelings for a while. But, wouldn't that have just made it worse later if she found out the truth. I really wish I could turn back time to the day we met. I could have stopped this from ever happening. Of course I may have never gotten to know her the way I know her now. 	Lying would just get you into worse trouble and then where would you be? Its also important to understand that its not your fault that she didn't know the answer to the question...being honest no matter how hard it seems at the time IS always the best thing to be. 	Not necessary. It's a catch 22. Sometimes people who say that they are lying to protect others are really trying to protect themselves. Perhaps they love the person so much, seeing them in pain will hurt themselves, and they want to protect themselves form that pain, or at least postpone it. Maybe they think they are making things better, but how long can you keep the blindfolds on? This is reality, and they are going to get hurt sooner or later, if not by you.
