Honesty, I struggled to figure it out. But I’m not the only one to reach the conclusion of Dante being 48 years old in DMC2. This video here does a much more thoroughly job in explaining and breaking down each game (as well as using the manga, novels, anime and other sources) to determine his age.

There’s also a forum related to the video.

But even so, there’s not much for anyone to go on to know exactly how old Dante would be in DMC2. It could be anyone’s guess, really. Maybe in Devil May Cry 5 we might get some sort of conclusive evidence or confirmation regarding the subject. It would certainly help to know how much time there was between DMC4 and DMC2 or even DMC5.
Because there isn’t an concrete answer though everyone comes up with their own guesses. One person says he would be in his 40s, another persons says 44 years old, 46 years, and so on. Each person has their own explanation and evidence that may or may not be canon or it was retcon in some way (or just doesn’t make sense when considering other factors too). It’s a mess, but no one is really completely right or wrong though, especially at this point. Everything could change when DMC5 comes out
My goal was just to get some sort of estimation of his age so that I would have something to go by when writing fanfiction. I don’t think it’s too impossible if he’s 48 years old though or in his early 50s in DMC5. There’s plenty of celebrities in their 40s and 50s that don’t look their age at all or just seem ageless. Just to name a few (and their ages at time of this post)…Jennifer Lopez (49), Keanu Reeves (54), Dwayne Johnson (46), John Stamos (55), Demi Moore (56), Halle Berry (52), etc.
Even though it’s said that he still ages when he’s in his human form, his demonic blood could still help to keep him looking good in some way. XP
