As I sit here and try to write
I can't think of anything to say
The words won't come out of my mouth
I'm supposed to express myself, but in what way?
A poem, he says, it's easy
You shouldn't have trouble at all.
But what he doesn't realize
Is that as soon as I'm up, I fall.
My mind can't think anymore
It's completely shut down.
Every time I think of what happened
It turns my smile into a frown.
Why did it ever happen?
Why did he have to die?
He left the world without telling me
Even so much as a goodbye.
"It's not fair!" I scream out,
"We were supposed to be best friends!"
We spent our lives together,
We thought our friendship would never end.
But as I sit and think about it
I say to myself, "Is he really gone?"
He knew he could come to me
He knew what he did was wrong.
I think the answer to my question is,
He'll never really leave me
But when I remember all those things he said
I know in my heart that he's free.
Even though I'm alone now
With all the weight of the world
A smile spreads upon my face
As his "Master Plan" unfurls.
If only he was here now
We could climb the trees again
He could tell me all those corny jokes
I know my laughter would never end.
I guess what I really want to say
Is that he is someone I'll terribly miss
If I could tell him just one more thing
It would be, "I love you, with all my heart, Chris."
