Trout Lily; NC. [Erythronium americanum]
All parts edible; leaves are variegated (multi-colored) and sweet. You could literally make a salad out of it.
Has two basal (base) leaves.

"Bloodroot" [Sanguinaria canadensis] (Canadensis is the epitaph; if you see this specific ending it means "Of the North" wink
The fleshy red part (rhizome) is used as an ingredient to clear urine for drug tests.
The rhizome has potential use for killing skin cancer.
