Why is it that in most fanfiction writers have the canon character acting out-of-character (especially if it's not a parody, crack-fic or AU) when it comes to them meeting their love interest? To be more specific, I'm talking about a character who is acting like a total a*****e towards a new character for no reason at all.
The female has done nothing to provoke such a hateful attitude from the character. It's disgusting because it's abusive. The male character is a respectful, noble, honorable and strict person. That is how he is portray in the canon material. He wouldn't be acting immature or unreasonable like that. Also why aren't the characters around him outrage at his behavior? They shouldn't be making excuses for him for man-handling her. And why the hell would they put her in his care? They have all seen him treating her poorly and yet they still put her in his care. Sure they reprimand him but it's not going to do anything.
What they did was the same as telling a kid, 'no, that's bad' and then sending them on their way, expecting them to not do it again. Where's the explaining -- making them understand why it's bad and punishing them to enforce it?
