One day my mother decided to organize the bottom part of her closet and while she was doing so she came across something of mine. Tamanco, which is Portuguese for clogs. Clogs are wooden shoes. Some clogs are made in part or completely from wood. In this case the shoes she came across are completely wooden.
She pretty much told me she got me those clogs (in the picture above) when I was little. They aren’t for practical use, just to have as a decoration. The funny thing about memory is that it’s sometimes not perfect. I don’t have any memory of ever putting them on or how I reacted when I saw them or when exactly they were bought. I was too young and memory from my childhood is pretty fuzzy with only a random few that I remember clearly.
I just remember the sound those shoes made against the concrete ground. Plus, seeing the scruff marks on the bottom reaffirms my memory that I did wear them once for fun. Traditional clogs were often worn in heavy labor. Or use in several different style of dances for the sound it makes against the floor.
