I don’t get why there are people who give let’s play/video game walkthroughs gamers issues about what game they’re playing. To be more specific, I’m talking about the people that feel the need to call them names for “copying” someone.
That’s ridiculous.
Those Youtube gamers aren’t copying other people or each other. Just because someone was first to play a certain game and upload it, doesn’t mean that they have first dibs on it and that no one else can play it. That’s like saying I’m the first to buy Resident Evil 6 and that no one else in the entire world has the right to buy it. If they do, then they’re “copying” me and that makes them horrible people. Come on, it’s going to be a popular game so of course there’s going to be other gamers that will be interested in playing it too.
Even if it’s not a popular game it’s still not “copying”. There’s no possible way for any walkthrough or let’s play video to be copied, unless someone took the exact video and posted it up on their channel. Each gamer has their own style of playing the game and their own style of commentary. Really, is it a bad thing for viewers to enjoy certain Youtube gamers’ videos, even though they “supposedly copied” from another?
No, it’s not a bad thing because everyone has different tastes. And they don’t copy one another. For example, I got introduce to Amnesia: The Dark Descent by Pewdiepie’s walkthroughs but I didn’t like his commentary and play of the game. And you know what I did? I search for someone else’s play of the game and it led me to TheRadBrad’s Amnesia: The Dark Descent. I liked his videos a whole lot better because I enjoyed of his style. I’m not saying Pewdiepie sucks or anything like that, it’s just that I prefer TheRadBrad over him when it came to Amnesia.
Just because Youtube gamers play the same games doesn’t mean that they copied one another. They all have different styles, personalities, and thoughts when they play a game. Each and every person has a different experience when they watch their videos. So sometimes it’s a good thing that there’s more walkthroughs and let’s play videos of the same game out there. It’s gives viewers a lot of variety to choose from and find something they will enjoy watching.
