Second Best
The view of her
"Hi, Jinx!" Her amber eyes were bright, like they usually were; and she gave Jinx an affectionate smile.
Jinx smiled cutely back, and replied back with a cheery voice. "Hi, Lily-chan!"
Lily grinned at her before turning to Ray. Jinx's smile faded a little when she saw Lily's eyes glow a little bit more, her grin becoming even wider.
Ray responded with a wide grin of his own, and ruffled Lily's hair. "Hey, short-stack~" He teased the smaller girl. Lily stuck her tongue out at him, and playfully swatted the hand away.
"You're only a centimeter taller than me,Ray!" She exclaimed, reaching up to ruffle Ray's hair as well. The two 10 year-olds laughed, continuing their banter without any notice of small Jinx simply standing there, watching them both.
It was always like that, though. Jinx's smile twisted a little with envy that would go unnoticed.
She was always second best.
