I never really paid attention to this but now that I’m noticing it more often, I can’t seem to wrap my head around it. What the hell is planking, owling, plowling, deading, teapotting, koalaing and toweling?! I’ve seen picture of people doing whatever the hell those things are but I just can’t figure out the reason for doing it. There’s no point in it. It’s boring, not fun and not even funny.
Sure people take pictures of them planking or owling or whatever but so what? Now there’s a picture of them that capture them doing something stupid and for everyone to see. What do they gain? Nothing, unless you count getting attention which isn’t really worth it.
It’s just stupid, plain and simple.
It’s even sadder when people who do that take it seriously. I heard about that Aussie guy who died for trying to plank on a balcony only to plummet 7 stories to the ground. There was also another where a few people got arrested for planking when they were suppose to be working. And another situation using police cars. Apparently the point of doing these things is to one up each other in their planking or whatever it is they choose to do and take photographs of it.
I guess in a way the games or “sport” as some like to call them, is harmless but becomes ridiculous and stupid if it starts to become a problem. It doesn’t help that the medias’ attention to it draws more people into the stupid games and increases the danger risk of those going too far with it.
Either way, I still find them ridiculous and hope that these new viral crazes go away.
