Chickenpox, is a mild but highly infectious condition caused by a virus called the varicella-zoster virus (varicella is the medical name for chickenpox) and is one of the classic childhood diseases. A child or adult with chickenpox may develop hundreds of itchy, fluid-filled blisters that burst and form crusts.
In a typical scenario, a young child is covered in pox and out of school for a week. The first half of the week the child feels miserable from intense itching; the second half from boredom. Chickenpox can be spread very easily to others. You may get chickenpox from touching the fluids from a chickenpox blister, or if someone with chickenpox coughs or sneezes near you.
I gotten chickenpox when it was April 1997, I think. I'm not that sure on the exact day of the month, but I know it was also around the time my niece was born. I was pretty young so my memory is fuzzy on the details but I do know that I was sick and I couldn't see her for the first time (or visit). After all, newborns are at risk for severe infection, if they are exposed and their mothers are not immune to chickenpox.
Fact: I am immune (resistant) to Chickenpox because I had it before.
