It's unbelievable that there are people out there who's first thoughts when they heard about the 8.9 Quake in Japan, is if their anime/manga/video games are fine. Really?! That's their first thoughts? As soon as I heard about it I DID NOT think about that, I was more concern if the people were okay and what happen. At first I wasn't sure how bad it was but once I saw how awful it was, I followed the news like crazy.
It was a lot worst than I thought and it got worst with the energy plants with their radiation problems. It's even more horrible when those selfish people complain about having to wait for their favorite anime/manga/game to come out. Are they that heartless or selfish to just care about that? What those people in Japan are going through is more important than that, they are suffering and they need help and our prayers. Yes, there are other places that are also suffering but it's what's happening now.
Also, there are some that believe that buying video games, mangas, and anime dvds like crazy is going to help them. It's not, donate to the Red Cross. Your money would be put to good use and actually HELP those in the disaster.
Oh, and to put those selfish people's thoughts/complains to rest in order to focus on the real problem/focus on the people, here's a message. The following letter had been posted by Comic Fiesta* administrator after receiving a message from Japan Cartoonists Association:
"With the recent earthquake and tsunami in Japan, many people have extended their support to us, for which we would hereby like to express our deepest gratitude. Most of the buildings in Japan have earthquake-resistant designs, leaving those damaged by the quake few in number. The largest losses came from one of the largest tsunamis in recorded history.
This huge calamity has cut off the affected areas from the outside world, where to this day there is still no way to know for sure the full extent of the damage. Almost all of Japan's comic artists are in Tokyo, and are hence, fine. There are also some in Kansai, but they were not affected by the shocks. Through various contacts, there has been no news of any comic artists in trouble at this time.
Comic artists staying in Tokyo have not experienced much trouble, please do not worry. The city of Tokyo has limited the use of electricity in order to preserve power, and it has inevitably affected the traffic a little. But otherwise, everything is as usual.
These calamities have injured and killed countless people, sending the entire country into grief. But we need to push aside the burdens of sorrow and rebuild our families together.
