Chronicles of a Mad Gentleman
Just some random thoughts from my mind, along with the occasional story I may write and post to here...Hope you enjoy, I guess...
Intro to Xero
So, you wanna know who I am? I can't say I can answer much of that. For as long as I can remember I've been out here wandering these desolate roads for miles and miles, just trying to survive. I can't say I remember much of where I came from, or that I even know where I'm going. I just know that I'm here, and that's all that really matters to me at this point. A sword both at my side and on my back and the cloak around my skin are all that keep me warm. As far as my name goes, who am I you ask? My name is Xero.

The earliest I can remember I was waking up in a graveyard, as if ominous enough to make one feel like you were already dead. I felt as though I might as well have been. All I had with me at the time was a tattered gi and a sword lying on the ground in front of me. I reached out and picked it up, as if the blade were calling to me, and from then struggled up and started off down that dark and rainy road.

It was several hours before I had found any shelter from the rain. I was drenched, and finally relieved to have found an abandoned building in shambles to take shelter under. The sound of the rain coming down over my head was almost relaxing, and I would've enjoyed it if it weren't for the fact that just moment later I had heard a crash coming from one of the windows. I hurried over to the source of the disturbance to find two men dressed in dark robes and hoods over their heads staring out at me as if they wanted something from me. Unfortunately they did. One of them approached me slowly, pointing out at me.
"So, we've finally found you..." he said in a low, menacing voice.
"Yeah, and what of me?" I replied
"We've come for you..."
And with that, he quickly moved behind me, almost so fast that I couldn't even see him. He slipped a throwing knife out of his sleeve and sent it toward me. In the blink of an eye as if with no time to think at all I immediately jumped upward, landing safely behind him. Another strange occurrence followed when I began to hear my sword as if calling to me again, with the words "Draw...Fight...Defeat..." repeating to me. I decided to listen and gripped my sword tightly and carefully removed it from its sheath. The sword almost seemed to have a mind of its own while I was wielding it. The blade gleamed with a light as I held it in position, ready to attack.
"Alright...Let's see what you guys can do." I readied myself for any attack they had coming.
The other dark robed man revealed katars under his sleeves and immediately lunged at me. My reaction to fight back and counter attack came almost instantly again, as if by instinct. I deflected one katar out of his hand, slicing the top of his hand in the process. The other immediately leaped up through a hole in the roof, throwing more knives down but this time with tags attached to them. The tags lit up and exploded within a matter of seconds and I immediately took cover from the blast. The house was now devastated with gaping holes out both the roof and the walls. I got up, my sword at hand and went after the retreating dark robed stranger. There was no sign of the second one after the blast. I had assumed he was taken out in the crossfire. Unfortunately by the time I emerged from the now even more shambled house, the stranger was nowhere in sight. Something was definitely up here, and I intended to find some answers. I found one of his knives dropped down the road a bit and sheathed my sword and slung it over my back, then set off in that direction to track where he had gone. The rain had stopped, but the further down the road I went, the more menacing the clouds looked overhead. I'm going to find out what's going on here. Somebody wants me dead.

Here's some advice, do not talk to your audience! That is one of the big things about writing. Just tell the story and don't ask the audience questions or talk to them. It shows bad writing. I read a lot, so yeah. Talking to the audience is frowned upon.
