Tonight I heard my grandfathers voice for the first time. You know, I bet there a lot of people in the world who would say that you can't miss someone who've never meet. I'm the living proof that they're all wrong. My grandfather died when I was a little over two months old, my grandmother a little bit before that and my twin was a miscarriage. How I miss all three of them, my heart yearns for them and loneliness often engulfs my soul when thinking back on them. But one of the worst parts is that I never even got to get to know them. But tonight, I heard his voice. When his wife, my grandmother, had died, on of their sons was out on a mission. The only way he could contact him was by recording his voice. My parents got a copy of this and I got to hear him. He told stories and shared experiences but the most important is that he sang. I had always been told he had a beautiful voice, but I had never even imagined I would ever get to hear it. They were right. Even in his old age he had a beautiful voice. It helped, this recorded letter. It helped soften the despair and the gap of never knowing them or what they were like. I don't only feel closer to them, but all three of them. There are no words in the galaxy to express how very much this means to me.
