New Year's Day is looming closer. (Kinda like how my little brother is looming over my laptop as I write. >.< wink
I can't say I'm looking forward to 2010, even though--or in cause of--I graduate this year.
2009 was pretty cool, looking back.
No marching band, no drama, good grades...everything was nice.
Now, with six hours and twenty minutes left I'm kind of sad that things are ending.

Last summer I did absolutely nothing.
Next summer, who knows where I'll be.
I could be in Oklahoma working, or here working...
Goddess and God, I hope I have a job. Honest!
Still, other summers of the past we spent vacationing....and they won't *be* any more.
My heart twinges in sadness at the loss.
All too soon I won't be typing from my house, but from my flat/dorm/elsewhere.
Again, I really hope I have a flat or dorm to go to, and not simply my car--or the street.

This is the last year I will see my friends.
(This is also the last year I will probably have any friends.)
Everyone else will be off to college, and I probably won't.
Hell, this year is the last year I'll ever see some people. (I hope you are well, wherever you are.)
'Sinking or Swimming' time is coming up fast...and we're about to be shoved off the gang-plank into shark-infested waters.

...All of this really makes me wish I were old enough to drown these thoughts in a big bottle of wine (or several shots of something else).
Maybe with an altered consciousness, 2010 won't seem so ominous and dark.
I suppose that would do little good, though nice diversion it may be.
What I really need is a bigger flashlight...and some rope to find my way back. (Yes, because time-traveling backwards is possible. -.-)
I guess I'll stop here before I liken the new year to something worse than the Labyrinth.
Not everyone can navigate through...what if I'm one of them who can't?
Failure is always an option, I suppose.
