Galaxia was born alone on a small planet she deemed "trash," she wandered through alone until the day her powers awakened. She had no purpose for herself, she felt she needed something more in life. Even being just a Sailor Soldier was not enough, she craved something and she thought that was power. She wanted to be the most powerful Sailor soldier there was.
She left her planet in search of another place which she could call home. During her travels she came upon a bar, talking to someone there she asked about the place 'where stars are born,' not finding an answer she determined that everyone there was 'trash' and was going to leave. But someone caught her attention when it spoke of the holy land she was searching for. That someone was Wiseman a form of Chaos.
Chaos acted like sort of a "mother" to the Golden Queen and showed her what she was looking for -- The place where stars are born. The Galaxy Cauldron. She discovered that in order for her gain control of the Galaxy Cauldron she had to eliminate the force which currently controlled it, that being Chaos. To do that she needed to gather the Sailor Crystals of all the Sailor Soldiers of the galaxy. Those powers combined together with that of Sailor Moon would destroy Chaos.
Sailor Crystals are special star seeds born from the Cauldron to be guardians. Everyone has a star seed, it is an essence of life.
From there she traveled to planet after planet turning them into places of death. She picked up followers here and there promising them power. The animamates were those who wished to become true Sailor Soldiers and Galaxia promised them such things.
Her last goal was earth. She killed Sailor Moon's friends and her loved one. Usagi eventually went to her where the last battle would take place -- the Galaxy Cauldron.
They fought long and hard and when it would appear that Galaxia finally had the upper hand and would win as she held Sailor Moon over the bubbling Galaxy Cauldron, she was unexpectedly blasted by Chaos. Almost falling off the cliff, Sailor Moon reached out and pulled her back up saving her from certain death. This confused Galaxia, to her this was war and Usagi should have finished her off. But Sailor Moon, even after all that Galaxia did, said that she saw her own loneliness inside of Galaxia and considered her a friend. It was then that Galaxia finally understood what she had been searching for--love. She reached out to Sailor Moon, but the energy surrounding them both caused her bracelets to shatter and she died.
