shinedown may just be my favorite band right now,definatly the most INSPIRATIONAL band i've ever heard of THAT'S for damn sure![can you believe i'm only one of the THREE of my friends who know who they are!?WTF DUDES!!???]the first time i saw them in concert,november '08,i knew very little about them and only knew like 4 of their songs.seriously.and i remember that i cried my ********' EYES out thier WHOLE set after they played second chance,and the very next day i went out and bought their cd's!
you see,at the time the only music i knew was crappy generic depressing stuff[which i never listend to anyways]and and then heavy screaming hardcore stuff and blues and of course the classics and rap/hip-hop[ect.]and sure there've been artist who made me feel better,who stopped my tears and let me move on.but never,NEVERRRRRRR,has there ever been an artist,a band,that actually meant what they said in the means of not caring what others say and being yourself and you can reach your dreams if you just try.
never has there been a band that actually said FLATOUT what they mean in the actuall words of theirs songs[perfect EX:their first cd 'leave a whisper'it's actually telling you the DIRECT things and not putting some stupid generic poetic twist on it.not saying that isn't acceptable from time to time!]
that,and they arn't like,most of,all the other bands i know.they arn't the guys who were looked down on their whole lives because they just wanted to be themselves and had their own dreams that everone discouraged and said they were foolish for it and then they all got older and turned into the exact thing they always hated.they arn't the dudes who grew up to be assholes and and started a band only to end up being about all that vulgar s**t and ignoring all that love them even though they KNOW that those people are who they used to be and without those people they would've NEVER made it.
they ARE the dudes who were looked down on their whole lives and were told they couldn't do this and that,and then got older and proved them all wrong,and they wrote about ALL OF IT.they are a REAL BAND.
because all the bad vulgar s**t was all i knew in music growing up,and even though i obviously knew as i got older that was much more to it than that,no one ever told me or explained to me that there was,i figured it out on my own.
shinedown really cleared it all up for me.
they've pulled me through some of the hardest and saddest parts of my life.to me,they're like the one overly positive friend that can see why you're angrey but believes you can get over it and shove on if you try.and it may piss you off but in the end you relize they just really care about you.and that you turley love them<3
so in conclusion:i love shinedown because they are who they say they are.they mean what they mean.they're very down to earth.their music is pure and real and speaks the truth.they care about all of the outcasts[like myself]they want us to reach our dreams and love ALL OF THEIR FANS.
