Today's sermon was mostly about leadership. Even Rob (our pastor) greeted me today after worship and said "speaking of leadership!"

In accordance with Samuel's farewell letter, we must all be leaders in our own ways when called upon. Not only must we step up, but also practice good qualities that show in a leader. As Rob says, "a leader must not demand things of their people but give to their people." Also a leader must set the initiative and not be the follower. Meaning, the action must BEGIN with oneself and not simply be reminded daily "oh yeah! I need to step up!!"

All of these factors affect me greatly in these coming past weeks, as I play sweeper now for my soccer team at school and I am also field commander for the marching band. I need to ALWAYS work hard, and ALWAYS be positive, and ALWAYS encourage my team and my band to do the best that they can possibly do.

This is also the case in praying. Today Rob challenged the congregation to pray EVERYDAY and to NEVER forget our savior who died for us so that we may live. I have tried many a time now to always keep in mind that Jesus is the one to be serving, but often have been left astray during the week, only to come to my senses again when I attend church on Sunday and think "oh yeah...kind of forgot to live my life everyday to the fullest..." This is my challenge to you: PRAY EVERYDAY THIS WEEK, no matter if it's silent, in the car, on your bedside, or in bed. ALSO: REMEMBER WHO YOU SERVE AND ACT ALWAYS AS A LEADER IN THIS WAY. The way I remember to do this is by putting on my bracelet that tells the story of Jesus and wear it with me everyday. Starting today I will do this...and eventually I will remove this "crutch" and ALWAYS think of where I am and why.

So go out today, pray, and find something to keep with you at all times to remind you to serve the one who gave EVERYHING so that we may have life. And go be a leader, whether in a small way or large. Even the smallest acts of leadership and righteousness will get you on the path of Setting Things Straight.
