Suprisingly, Edward took a very long time to respond to the "kidnap" of his daughter. Finally, word came in today from a messenger. He wants to negotiate with me.
I am surprised that he has not come charging at us with an army. But I am glad for the more peaceful option, and so I agreed to meet him sometime next month.
The incident with Lady Beatrice confused me. I thought I had gotten over Edward...and yet the news of our divorce and his fiancee had gravely upset me. Still, other than that, I have been fine without him.
And yet, I find my laughter somewhat forced when we joke today about the other news.
Lady Beatrice has jilted King Edward and left the country. Apparently she realized what a dangerous position she held, and does not want to be caught in a civil war.
Strangely, I don't feel happy, though my jealousy has been eating away at me. I'm not sure what I feel.
Anyway. I must prepare for the negotiations.
