I amble across the room
Thinking maybe, maybe soon,
I will reach my sudden doom,
And it happens.
I look and see a face, it's you,
My love, my gloom,
My visitor at noon.
I sit you down at a nearby table,
Ask to chat, if you are able,
But my breath's a bit unstable,
What's wrong?
Your face turns dark, the color maple,
Your forehead curved, like a lable,
Like a gremlin living in a fable.
Your face is a vacant stare,
As you stand up from your chair,
You do not even seem to care,
You just leave.
I'm happy now, but is it fair?
How could you even dare?
It seems this time I have been spared.
I was lucky this time around,
It's the first bit of luck I've found,
Like I stole it from the ground.
I've been spared!
It floats 'round my head, like the sound
Of a sweet lullaby that's homeward bound,
I've been spared, I haven't drowned!
