I thought hearts were supposed to be
A picture of happiness-
Something pink and cute.
A picture colored by a 4 year old,
The cotton candy pink crayon
Scribbled all over the page,
Weaving in and out of the bold
"Supposed-to-be-this-way" lines.
But those are just pictures.
Some hearts are portrayed in love-
Deep, rich, passionate red
Shown in an elegant, dainty heart.
Black wrapping paper
covered in floating red hearts,
surrounding a gift for a girlfriend or boyfriend or fiance.
But those are just symbols.
My heart doesn't work that way
For some strange reason.
It's like it has multiple personality disorders,
And can't make up its mind about "love".
One side wants nothing to do with love-
The kind of love that you share with a partner-
And the other side says,
Stop this, just... love
You're dieing everyday.
Oh, what to do.
