"One, two, three, four..." I slowly count the specks on the ceiling...
I stopped counting. Tears roll around the rim of my eye... I grab my
pillow to wipe them away. "Five, six, seven, eight..." ding-dong.
I get interrupted by the sound of my phone... The noise coming from
my right front pocket. It's a text. I slowly pull it out of my pocket.
"One new message from Lexie..." I quietly whisper to myself...
'Nanerpus'... I giggle quietly... One day I go to school and say it
once and now most of my friends are saying it. She's trying to
cheer me up. She knows what I'm feeling. I don't respond. I just
slip it back into my pocket, trying so hard to forget everything
that's happened to me. Why did it...turn out that way? I know I
shouldn't ask. It would just make things worse than they already are...
Why bother?
