There are many types of trust. Trust in friendship, trust in relationship, trust in family members, trust in strangers and so on. And many don't think about it, but it also requires trust to do simple things throughout the day. After all, if you're driving to work, school, the store or wherever it is. You have to trust that the other person driving besides you that they will stay in their lane. That they won't break the rule (or any rules for that matter) by changing lanes when they aren't suppose to. That is an example of trusting a stranger. It may not be on the same level as trusting those closer to you but at some level there is a type of trust being used.
The highest level of trust is the one where we not only trust but also believe in the other person.
If a friend tells you to jump off a building and you've been best friends since forever. And you look them in the eye and see that they are serious. That you know that they wouldn't ever kid around with something like that. Or that they clearly don't and (never would) have any ill intent towards you.
They tell you to trust them. That they wouldn't let you get hurt.
Would you jump?
Depending on your answer it could be either life of death. But my answer to that was yes. I would. My trust was what save my life.
Why?
Because I believe and trusted them. It is what saved me from plummeting to my death. How is that possible? Maybe they kept a net underneath to catch me? Maybe attach something to my clothes without me knowing? Maybe set a large air bag below? Or possible even jump after me and used a parachute?
If I didn't believe than my death would have been the knowledge of knowing I lost the greatest friend ever. Or worst...realizing that my answer was what led to their death.
