there's someone i know
he says he's fine
& not to worry about him
but the truth is
i can't not worry about him
not when there's something wrong
he says there's nothing wrong
but i can tell there is
something dark & lonely
hidden behind a mask of laughter
he screams in the middle of the night
then tells me its nothing
and sometimes i find him lost
with a pained expression on his face
his beautiful smile that i fell in love with
doesn't always reach his eyes
& i wonder what could have happened
to make him ache so much
i just wish i could reach out
& rip off that mask of laughter
and see his true colors
i want to see who he really is...
i want to see the man behind the mask
