Home Wreckers Ch1:
Fawn ran with the intensity of a bull around the house. The creature was coming, she could hear it crashing through the kitchen. With a racing heart and blood-shot eyes she ran furiously down the road. Maybe her mother's old book on magic was locked up for a reason. The Manticore in her kitchen said that much... no screamed that at her as it burst through the livingroom window.
She allowed herself a scream and booked it down a side road. Living in a small house that only had one floor had it's advantages: Easily escapable in case a monster attack. But it had it's down falls were equally great: Perfect place for creatures from another relm to enter through the bedroom dresser mirror and run rampid all over the house.
Definatally not cool in the least!
The side ally had a sliver of light aluminating out of a hole in the fence that blocked the exit. She scrambled to crawl through the extremly small hole, feeling it's glare on her back. She scampered through the rest of the ally and turned back to view the rickety wooden fence. There was no noise, no shadows, no sign of the gastly beast that broke her house. Then, someone tapped her shoulder.
Fawn was half expecting to be eaten alive, but it wasn't what she thought. Her mother, gasping and all, was there at her side; the Black Magic book resting soundly on the passenger seat of the car that was parked further down the street.
"We need to talk, Honey..." she weezed through clenched teeth. She was far beyond anger or frustrated or whatever. Fawn was in for it.
