The distance is pure torture
I am here, and you are there
This gap that i can't seem to close
It's nothing to me but pain
It's edged with barbed wire
So i can never cross the way
And this gap goes on forever
There is no path to go around it
I'd risk life and limb
To be closer to you
But there's no path at all
So i'd better not try
I stare across the distance
I have the most perfect view
I can see you stare back at me
Oh, the sadness in you eyes
