Once Upon a Time,
A Disgusting Dying dolly
Wished to find something of her very own to love
Searching high and low
Trying to find her Prince
She looked in all the crevices,
And in-between spaces,
Under all the floorboards,
And even in the sewers
Came up empty handed time and again
Minutes, and hours, and years passed
The clocks hands spinning out of control
And just as she'd grown weary of her futile quest,
She found a broken boy sitting in filth.
Saw the beauty in his tears
And fell in love with eyes that held so much pain.
She approached him asking what was so wrong
That could make such a pretty face frown
And he replied only, "I'm dying of a broken heart."
Never taking his eyes off of a photograph of his princess.
And just as soon as her heart had become whole
She felt it shatter into a million splinters.
Knowing that he would never belong to her,
Dismantled dolly looked at her missing puzzle piece and said,
"It must be contagious."
