4laugh HAPPY BELATED NEW YEAR EVERYONE! 4laugh
whee Lin-chan desu~! whee
Well did everyone have a Happy Valentine's Day?
Yes? No? Not really? What's it to you?
Okay, then!
So anyway, speaking of Valentine's Day,
this month's Spotlight series is actually a shojou series
that is quite popular!
Presenting: SKIP BEAT!
blaugh Yay! blaugh
So this series was originally created by Yoshiki Nakamura
Hyuu~!
One of her other infamous works is "Tokyo Paradise"...
Anyway,
Skip Beat!'s heroine is our lovely Kyoko Mogami.
A girl who is happily in love with her childhood friend Sho Fuwa (Shotaro Fuwa) and cosmetics (even though she doesn't use them).
Anyway, Kyoko is a girl who is working several part time jobs in Tokyo to support her dear "prince".
Kyoko and Sho reign from Kyoto but in following his dreams of becoming Japan's hottest singer, Sho moves to Tokyo cutting off all
ties to his family.
Kyoko follows him to Tokyo after Sho "kindly" asks her to come with him.
However in Tokyo, Sho spends less time at his expensive home
leaving Kyoko all alone.
(Awwww...)
But not to worry, Kyoko is happy to be Sho support afterall,
he is her "fairy tale prince" afterall right?
mad Wrong. mad
One day, Kyoko decides to drop by to see Sho at the studio when she
over hears him intimately talking to his manager
and eventually tells her that he only brought Kyoko along
for her to be his personal maid like she always has been!
Well let's just say that Kyoko does not take this very well and
ends up snapping and declares that she will get her revenge on
Sho, meaning she will crush him in the show biz world.
With a new outlook in life and a spirt that is ready action,
blaugh (YOU GO GIRL!) blaugh
Kyoko sets out to become a star to out shine Shotaro.
After a rough start in the beginning, Kyoko eventually joins the agency
heart LME's "Love-Me" section as it's first member. heart
Here at LME, she starts out doing odd jobs and such but she ends up meeting Japan's hottest actor
heart cool Ren Tsuruga! cool heart
Ren is Sho's rival in show biz with Ren being the "coolest male celebrity".
At first, Ren really seemed to be unhappy with Kyoko due to her motivation to enter the acting world (that being revenge).
But eventually, Kyoko begins to change her purpose to become
"reborn" and discover who "Kyoko Mogami" is.
With this, Ren begins to respect her and starts to warm up to her more.
So begins the love blooming around the young actress in training
cry who "gave up on love"; cry
and the actor who is said to have
confused "zero experience in love". confused
(Yeah, and you thought celebrities had it all...Ren's a nice guy though)
Throughout the series, Kyoko refers to a time when she was little,
where she met her fairy prince "Corn" and recieved a wonderful stone from him.
scream NO! Her fairy prince isn't Sho who dumped her! scream
stressed What's the matter with you people!? stressed
So in the story, we slowly unravel the mystery behind "Corn" and
the connection he has to Kyoko now.
The series has alot more characters though, like
Ren's awesome manager, Yukihito Yashiro,
Kyoko's first/best friend, Kanae Kotonami (aka Moko-san),
LME's flamboyant president, Lory Takarada,
and his black magic (and Ren) loving grandaughter, Maria Takarada,
and of course
twisted Kyoko's apparitions! twisted
----------
wink Yes Skip Beat! has alot of punch in it, wink
Romance, comedy, a little slice of life, and of course revenge.
The anime started last year in October 2008 while it's manga
counter part started back in 2002.
Yes it might sound alittle wierd and I was iffy about this
series too and I kept debating to wether or not
I should start reading/watching the series and as a result...
I got hooked.
The anime is quite good since it follows the manga's storyline pretty
close and the voice actors did an amazing job!
Not to mention the Opening song and closing song are pretty cool too!
Lin gives Skip Beat! a 10/10
Yes!
blaugh CONGRATULATIONS! blaugh
So please start watching it and/or reading the manga!
Okay?
evil OR ELSE... evil
Don't scare them!!! gonk
Anyway, see you in April! 3nodding
