I gave you my trust, my faith
Shared with you so many things
That would have festered and poisoned me
But when I need you most
What did you do?
Running, hiding, making excuses
So my trust was not good enough for you
Now I am wondering if those secrets I gave
Are words you will abuse
I spread myself thin,
trying to be what everyone wants me to be
Wanting so hard to be perfect
Keeping all the pain,

But in the end, it doesn't matter.

what I shared with you
That little piece of me that I trusted
You to keep, to hold
Is not what I am really about
And so I left you, dropped you
As I ran from myself and those shadows,

Shadows, make believe

Crashing down hard and fast
It was you I gave my trust to
and you who betrayed it all.
In the end, what I gave you
