The meeting before the tragedy.
“We all here?” A man in a black tuxedo asked, standing up and addressing the room full of employees.
“I don’t know yet Tom. There is nobody in the hallway.” Another man said as he looked out the doorway.
“We are all here Kyle. Close the door and let us begin this. I have things to do.” A woman said, glaring at her fellow co-worker.
“Come off it Charlene.” Carl said calmly, “We all know you have “important things” to be doing.”
A couple of people laughed and Charlene glared daggers at him. He shrugged her off as if she was an annoyance, nothing more.
“Fine. Looks like we’ll have no more un-invited guests.” Tom frowned at the memory of the last time he tried to hold this meeting. 2O uninvited employees had waltzed into the room and tried to ruin the equipment that was being used that day. The head of the Business promptly fired them and that ended the day. Now you could tell that Tom was anxious to get started because he kept on eyeing the door and was fiddling with his black, ballpoint pen.
“Is there a problem Tom?”
“None Lily.”
“You sure?”
“Yes. Please do not ask another question.”
“You are no fun.” Lily said, pouting.
“Tom est toujours comme ce lis. Ne pensez pas que vous êtes si spécial qu'il te dirait ses sentiments. Habituez-vous à lui.” Matt said, finally butting into their conversation. He had forgotten that he had not told Tom that he could speak 6 languages, French being one of them. Matt looked around when he realized that he had made a crucial mistake…he had spoken a language other than English.
“What was that Matt?” Tom asked him, keeping his voice neutral.
“I said… never mind. It was something that was directed at Lily. If she wants to tell you what I said than she can. Je n'embarrasserai pas son autre.”
