Well, thing hadn’t changed that much, but they’d changed enough, he couldn’t even imagine what it would be like when and if it happened. The idea of having a kid hadn’t even crossed his mind until that day Macy had called him. He had thought about getting a dog, or maybe a cat.
The only living thing he had be responsible for was his gold fish, who had died a short two weeks after Max had gotten him; he had been devastated. He drew back from the memory and returned to his worried thoughts.
If it did happen, they didn’t have much money, and what about school? Max couldn’t understand when Grace was so determined about keeping the baby.
Maxums said something.
“What?”
“ We’re getting off soon.”
“Oh.”
Max looked out the window and could start to see the familiar landmarks that signified that they were close to Jake’s parents house.
