The Stand
I recently just finished reading Stephen King's The Stand and then watched the whole six hour movie.
It does seem to be a tad dated, but it's still a good story. I didn't really mind any of the adjustments from book to movie either, except that Stu meets Nadine in New York instead of Rita (her character is completely cut out).
I don't know what it is that makes it so intriguingly fearsome that something comes along in which the survival of the fittest law comes into play. But I do know the possibility that we may bring it on ourselves, or more specifically that we shall become exposed to something deadly via our own government, makes the scene plausible, therefore even more frightening.
Is it me, or does it seem like there are more and more movies that are based on our fear of our own government? (Name them if you can.) I know our country is relatively young. are we still having growing pains?
