Savannah sat on the roof of a rusted blue car and stared up at the blackened sky. Rain rattled against the car that sat in the middle of a field, the rain making her platinum blonde hair plaster to her head. She watched as lightning shattered the darkness in blinding streaks, making it look like it was splitting the sky in a million pieces. But savannah’s black eyes continued to look up. Seconds later would come the defining roar of the angry beast of thunder. Little birds chirps where silent, bugs lay dormant under rocks and leaves of the surrounding forest. It seemed like she was the only thing alive on the entire world.
A soft lullaby seeped through her lips, leaving eerie echoes behind, sometimes barely heard under the rumble of thunder and tapping of rain. Her lips in a thin line, except for the slender gap where the music escaped. Savannah was very aware of her surroundings like the thick forest around the large circle of field. Or she could smell the thick scent of fresh rain on a mossy forest ground. For a 15 year old, she was pretty smart.
Just as lightning split through the sky, with a loud thunder, something moved near the edge of the forest. It became silent again, but Savannahs eyes were still locked on the spot. The thing moved again, just in the depths of shadow. Savannah strained her eyes, to tell her more about this… shape. A loud clicking noise arose from the shadows, along with shrills, purrs, snapping, and gurgling noises, like a scream unheard over blood. Savannah stared, letting her eyes flash behind her, looking for an escape. There was another flash of light just as she turned to look back.
The black shape was flying towards her. It had limbs, its left arm seemed to be held by only what seemed to be a chunk of rotting flesh. Its left leg was cocked upward, not at the knee but mid thigh. Its right leg was missing a foot entirely in which a black ooze that somewhat resembled blood spilled out. Its right hand was reaching for Savannahs neck, with what looked like it was broken in four different places. Its fingers were long and spidery. Its head seemed to be cocked to the left, in which she could see the resemblance of a face. Its lips were curved in a devilish grin. Black blood oozed out its mouth. Its eyes were like endless black coals with a white speck for a pupil, and black mist spread from them. Its face was mashed so badly it didn’t have a real nose. But black blood flooded off.
Savannahs heart froze, in fact, she froze. Then, grabbing her wondering mind she jerked it back and slammed it into her head. The thing was only inches away when she got her mind to think enough to through herself off the roof of the car, slam onto the front to land onto the ground. She heard the thing thump as it landed, with a splatter. Savannah quickly rolled under the car enough to see the monster swing over the edge and land on the ground. As well as thunder coming crashing down to catch a top of a tree. It immediately caught fire, spreading from tree to tree. The thing above her gurgled and shrieked. It slammed itself of the car, leaping to the cover of the other side of the forest. The first tree when out, as well as the second. The third was next to the field, and in seconds, the field was in flames, and approaching quickly. Soon all the trees were no longer in flames, but the field was, and approaching Savannah rapidly.
